Physicians for Human Rights
Using science and medicine to stop human rights violations
Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) is an independent organization that uses the integrity of medicine and science to stop mass atrocities and severe human rights violations against individuals. PHR uses its investigations and expertise to advocate for the:
- Prevention of individual or small scale acts of violence from becoming mass atrocities
- Protection of internationally-guaranteed rights of individuals and civilian populations
- Prosecution of those who violate human rights
The goal of the PHR National Student Program is to advance health professional students’ understanding and lifelong commitment to human rights activism, and to cultivate their unique contributions as advocates for human rights locally, nationally and globally. The PHR National Student Program supports PHR’s mission by offering students the chance to contribute meaningfully to PHR’s work and developing the next generation of human rights activists.
For nearly 25 years, Physicians for Human Rights has been investigating and documenting human rights violations worldwide, thanks to the support of our members. Become a member and get your PHR t-shirt today.
